The chart below
shows the readings from one of our 'mains' water
meters which records the consumption over a series
of days for an area of Maidstone.
We have used the same "District"
meter as we used in the "Typical
days water consumption". This time
we are indicating the way that consumption varies
depening on the temperature.
What should I look at?
The very bottom of the curve
shows the minumum demand. You will see that this
remains at roughly 2 cubic meters. That means
at all times at least that amount is being consumed,
even at 3 oclock in the morning! Note the increase
to about 3 cubic meters per hour on the 18th
and 19th May. remeber the hot spell. Perhaps
somebody was using their sprinklers or had left
a tap running?

At the end of May the temperature dipped and our
water consumption followed it down.
During the eary part of June we can see the peak
demand steadily increasing. The profile remains
very regular with most water being used in the
morning - is that when we take baths and wash clothes
and dishes?
